Senior Year

This year I find myself being a senior mom.  Senior year came too fast.  Wasn’t it yesterday when Zach started kindergarten?  It feels like someone hit the fast forward button on the VCR (I am dating myself) and put me here.  Those days were long and exhausting.  They were up early and wanted all my attention.  Looking back on them I can now see that they went by too fast.

I miss the days of playing outside, coloring the driveway with chalk, and going to the park with friends.  Now our days are filled with activities, homework, and running around (and that too will be over in the blink of an eye).  It’s hard to put into words what I am feeling about having my own senior.  The best way for me to deal with senior year is to take lots of pictures.  I feel a little bad for my kids, they must dread the camera… always there ready to snap away.  This is why for Zach’s senior year he is having a series of senior sessions.boys

The first senior session that we did was this past summer in Guatemala.  During one of the weekends we were there we went to lake Atitlan and I took some pictures there. I could not be happier with those pictures and Zach looks great too.  Zach has agreed to all my photos with the condition and I am fast.  No long sessions.  Just several quick sessions through out the year.  DEAL!

Now we are planning his next session.  I want to take him to Houston and find a cool spot that shows that Zach is a Houston all the way.  We will finish his senior year with a cap and gown session.  I think that should hold me over and make me cry just enough.  Don’t tell him but in between all those minis I will also take his picture when he decides what school he will be attending in the fall. (Insert crying.)
