Each senior brings their own personality to their session. And that’s what makes it so fun to be a Houston senior photographer. This time I photographed who I think of as The Boxer.
The oldest of his family, which means he is the first one to go off to college, was hesitant to take senior photos. We were able to convince him by telling him he could have input as to what location we would go to and the “look” of the photos. He didn’t want pictures where he didn’t look like himself.
He likes the outdoors, he likes to play the guitar and listen to music, and he LOVES boxing. So we did all things he loves. The session started at a local forest (Jones State Forest) and then we used different locations in that same area to create all the different looks we were looking for.
For our first look we did just some casual stuff in the forest. Classic senior photos for an announcement or to send for gift. Every session gets these, they are mom’s favorites. He rocked this look (and all the other looks too).
Next he had a shirt change and we took pictures with his guitar. To make things more relaxed I asked him to play something for us. He was amazing and we got so many great pictures.
The session went on and the boxing part of the pictures came around. He changed into his shorts and tank and showed me how he wraps his hands. It is a ritual and he loves it!
We went on to pretend that he was fighting so I could get some action shots. They came out awesome and the boxing part of the session was probably my favorite. It was so unique and fun and I think it shows in his pictures.
Out of all of the senior images I took this is my favorite of the whole session! It feels vintage to me and it captures the passion he has for the sport. I would print this very large and display it!
The Boxer was a real treat to photograph.
