I got a chance at photographing a Houston Senior at Mercer Botanical Gardens and it was better than I expected. The flowers were amazing even though you would not think that FALL is a great flower season. There were several pockets with different flowers and different looks. It’s a perfect location for a senior session. We had different outfits and the different areas worked well for our plans. And we didn’t have to drive to a different location.
I met Lauren because she is my neighbor. I know that she had many different choices when hiring a senior photographer. She chose me and I couldn’t be happier that she did. We met for an initial consultation where we planned her session and talked about the whole process, from booking to taking the pictures. Finally I explained what happens after the session.
Lauren is like any other senior and she is super busy with a busy schedule. We agreed that we would meet on a Sunday and the weather didn’t cooperate so we moved it to a day during the week. She decided not to hire a hair and makeup person because she is very good at doing her own (and I think she did great!)
When we got there we noticed that there were several photographers so we decided to start away from most of them. I wanted Lauren to get comfortable and sometimes being around people can hinder that. Boy was I wrong!!! Lauren was not shy at all and was a natural in front of the camera. She needed some direction but was a natural at following my instructions.
By the time we were finished going around the gardens it was sunset and time to finish the session any ways. We even got a chance to take some pictures with her mother and her brother. Melts my heart!
