Everyone stresses about what to wear for your photo session. I would say is the number 1 question I get when people book their session. Everyone wants to look and feel great in what they are wearing. I am here to help with as little or as much as my clients want.
Planning my sessions is so fun and helping my clients with what to wear is the cherry on top. I get to see their personalities by what they are drawn to for their outfits.
When I am planning outfits for a family session one of the first things that I will ask is, “where are you planning on displaying the photos?” If you are going to put them in your family room and the decorations in that room are all warm tones it just would not make sense to dress the family in greys, blues, and green. That is usually a very easy point to take off.
So now we have a color palette and we can move on to the actual clothes. Little kids are easy to find clothes for, we all love to shop for littles. So I recommend that you find something for the littles to wear. From their outfits you can pull colors for everyone else’s outfits. If there is no little one in your family use a guy’s shirt. Usually they wear some kind of plaid. You can pull colors from there.
Another tool I use a lot with my clients is Pinterest. Pinterest is a great resource for what to wear. Usually I will send you links to examples on how to put clothes together. This is great because it’s very visual and most of us need to see examples to really be able to do our own thing.
After we have found what to wear for your photo session we are ready to meet!!! And then the magic happens!
