Summer photography ideas seem like they could be a challenge around Houston because it’s so hot and humid. A lot of clients want to wait until the weather has changed a bit and it doesn’t feel as warm. (Which is just plain hot in the summer months here.)
I feel like summer can be a great opportunity to get out and get some great photos. The light is a bit different in the summer than it does in the winter and it can be fun to capture it. Another bonus of a summer session is that there is more day to work with. If you have other things planned for the day you can still get some your session done at the end of the day.
Summer is also time when families get together. The older kids come home from college. We have family traveling in to visit. It’s a good time to get those memories recorded.
3 Ideas for Summer Sessions
The first summer photography idea that comes to mind is to schedule your session close to water. It is always cooler closer to the water and there is a nice breeze that can cool things down. It makes for a beautiful background and you get to spend some time outside enjoying the summer breeze.
Idea number two for a summer session is to head downtown. I think downtown is such a great spot to explore for a session. There are several spots that are super nice and fun to photograph. Downtown is a little slower in the summer months. More people are on vacation and is just seems to slow down a bit. I like to head down there late in the afternoon and enjoy the late hours of the day. There is plenty of shade and the buildings create a little wind tunnel to make it fun to shoot with.
The last of my summer photography ideas is to head to the beach. I am on the hunt for someone that would love to have their session at the beach. We are fortunate enough to live close to the ocean. It’s a quick drive away. For a lot of people it’s a flight away.
A beach session can be so fun. It would be great for a family, for a couple, or for a senior. The breeze of the ocean in your hair, sand in between your toes, and the warm glow of the sun on your face. That is what summer session dreams are made of.
Shoot me a message and let’s get your summer session scheduled. Whether it’s a lake, the city or the beach, let’s get together and make some memories.
