This teen photoshoot idea came to me when I was talking to my client’s mom. Mom wanted the session to be 100% her daughter. She wanted her personality to shine. That way in years to come, when they go back and look at these photos, they can remember exactly who P was when she took these photos.
It is so cool when a mom wants the same vision for the session as the daughter. When they can agree on that part the rest just falls into place. P’s mom told me that her daughter was into anime and that she didn’t know how to incorporate that into her session. That’s when I went into Pinterest and found some outfit ideas they could build from.
Finding the perfect outfit for my idea
This teen photoshoot idea was going to take some planning. You can’t walk into a store and say I will take the outfit that an anime lover would buy. The outfit would have to get pieced together from different stores. Well, mom didn’t know where to start. I suggested that she tried Urban Outfitters and stores like that one. But she did something even better. She hired a stylist to help her with the shopping. And they absolutely ROCKED the look. The nailed it!!!
The location for the teen photoshoot
Now it came down to the location. I envisioned something urban. Concrete for sure. Texture on the walls, maybe some stairs. A parking garage was the perfect spot for our teen photoshoot! YES!!! How cool is it to take pictures in a parking garage??! The parking garage was such a fun location for a photoshoot. There were so many places to take pictures and all in a very small area.
The teen
P was the perfect client. She trusted me and posed for me when I asked her. She acted natural when that’s what I needed. P started a little shy (like most of us do) but at the end of the session she was 100% her. She didn’t try to be anyone else. I loved every image we got from this session. It was the perfect collaboration between mom, daughter, photographer, and stylist (first time that I had a stylist at one of my sessions).
To plan YOUR session send me a message and I would love to get thinking!!!
