The best locations in The Woodlands for a family session are all over town. There are so many beautiful places to chose from. Let me be your guide to some of the best locations The Woodlands has to offer.
As a long time resident of The Woodlands, I could not be any prouder of the little (not so little) community we have here. Voted as the BEST PLACE TO LIVE in America by Niche magazine, The Woodlands doesn’t disappoint with wonderful locations. There are so many parks, trails, creeks, a preserve; you name it they might have it.
When a family contacts me for a session the first question I ask is what kind of location are they looking for. Not every family is the same and I like to build their session to fit their needs. My sessions aren’t cookie cutter. They are personalized for each client. Following I will show you just how versatile The Woodlands can be. And how even the most random places can make for amazing photos.
Best Locations for a Family Session- The Woodlands
Forest
There are several forests around The Woodlands. I guess just by the name it is given that there should be lots of trees. When families are looking for trees I suggest a few places. Jones Forest is one of the first ones and one of the MOST popular ones. There are several spots at Jones. The “manicured side” and the “wild side”.
The manicured side has the trees all lined up and it’s very pleasing to the eye. During popular times of the year you can see A LOT of photographers staking their spots and doing their sessions.
The wild side is more natural. The trees are where they came up and weren’t planted in any pattern. Both side have their charm and they are both beautiful.
The Waterway
Along The Waterway there are many different spots. It is a very special place in The Woodlands. There is always people walking or exercising while they enjoy a beautiful place.
One side of The Waterway is by the restaurants. The tunnels with the arches are THE SPOT where a lot of people like to have their sessions. It is such a beautiful background.
The next spot is the Koi Pond. This place is just a short walk away from the tunnels and it’s a little oasis inside a little jewel. The light in the late afternoon is MAGIC there. It feels like a vacation. I love shooting family and senior sessions in this spot. I can always count on the light hitting just right in this spot.
A third spot is by the Riva Row Boat House. This area is full of little spots where are family can get together and capture some beautiful photos. I can spend a whole session just in this spot. The only problem with this area is that it’s popular with the residents. And The Woodlands schedules a lot of activities for this area during the weekends. So one important thing to make sure to do is to check the schedule of what is going on before you head there.
