What a blessing do to a Make a Wish Texas Gulf Coast photoshoot. I didn’t even know that this was a thing. But this November I was contacted by a person from the Make a Wish Foundation. She asked me to document a wish being granted. When I first read the email I didn’t know if it was real. (Some people try to pull scams and I wasn’t sure if this was one.) I did a little looking around and quickly saw that this was an actual request.
Honestly, once I knew that this was a legitimate request I didn’t have to think twice about doing it. How cool is it that through the power of the internet they found me?! And how could I not want to do this and maybe bless someone with some images to remember a special day? It was a resounding YES from me. Tell me when and where and I will be there.
Granting the Wish at Macy’s
The wish that I helped document was for a 17 year old girl. She wanted to have the experience of being a model. The MAF had set up a photo session with a modeling agency in Houston. But part of the experience was to get a shopping spree with a stylist at Macy’s. This is where I come in. I would be the “paparazzi” capturing the shopping spree.
Macy’s in The Woodlands did a great job at showing Kylie the royal treatment. Everyone was super helpful and the stylist was great at working with her and showing her fun outfits to try on.
I can honestly say that Kylie was super surprised with everything that went on. I think she thought it would just be a little shopping and that’s it. Macy’s set up a makeup appointment for her, they had an area designated where she could try on the clothes and feel like a model. The whole thing was great.
Kylie started out being a little shy and looking a little overwhelmed but by the end she was a confident, happy, teen. Her eyes lit up a little more with every outfit she tried on. I could tell that the day meant a lot to Kylie and her mom.
The Make a Wish Texas Gulf Coast photoshoot not only meant the world to Kylie and her mom but I can honestly say that it changed me too. When I left one of the ladies that volunteers for the MAF called me a wish granter and it honestly made my heart happy. The thought of my photography being a blessing like that made me so happy. It was a great way to start off the holiday season.
Merry Christmas and I am looking forward to 2022 and the new adventures that it will bring me.
