I know it can be a lot to think about when you think “what to wear for your senior session”. Trust me, you are making it harder than it needs to be. You are thinking too hard. Save that for school. Your senior session should not be a source of stress. And I am here to help you when you feel overwhelmed.
I believe, down to my core, that your senior photos should look like you. You should look at them years from now and recognize that person. I do not want you to feel like you were playing dress up. And then you don’t even remember why you were wearing that “crazy outfit”. I do not want you to tell your mom, “why did you let me wear that?” Or even worse. “why did you make me wear that?”
Think about how you feel really good about yourself and elevate that. If you always wear jeans and flip flops elevate it by making the flip flops something really cute. And then also make your top something that you love and would wear on a fun night with friends. Again, an normal outfit elevated.
What do girls wear for their senior photos
The difference between girls and boys is huge. Girls usually want several outfits and are all about all the looks. As a boy mom I live for this. It’s so fun to get to see all the cute clothes and accessories that girls bring.
You can do something a bit more dressed up and switch it to a more casual look. I always say wear your first choice first. We will probably take more pictures in that outfit. So maybe you start with a cute dress. It could be something you have in your closet. Maybe something you wore to a banquet… Or you could go buy something special for the event. I really like Altar’d State. They have a great selection of super fun dresses. And I think you could totally use it again for some of your senior events that you have coming up.
For something casual a pair of shorts and a cute t-shirt is adorable. If you know where you will be attending it could even be a college shirt. Or you could opt for that jeans and flip flop outfit. And let’s face it, we live in Texas. You can wear boots with either one of your outfits.
How about the boys?
What to wear for your senior session is completely different if you are a boy. Chances are that you are just doing this for your mom. And I love you for that. We need photos of our boys and it shows how much you care for your parents when you show up and do this for them.
Boys start off not caring much. But they don’t want to look stupid. And they don’t want to think about it too much. A lot of guys are all about the sneakers. If that’s you, build your outfit around your shoes. There is nothing wrong with that. But just think that you might have to do another outfit for mom. Usually something more “formal”. Something like a button down shirt and sometimes even a suit. And let me tell you, those outfits ALWAYS look awesome.

And P.S. I would stay away from very small patterns (both girls and boys). It can look strange on the computer. It’s called moire effect.
