Everyone wants the perfect senior photos. And what does that mean? Each senior is different and each one deserves a unique session. That’s where I come in. I love to plan senior sessions.
The first thing that you need to take into consideration is what are you going to do with your photos? If you are going to use them for your school ads you need to look at then those are due. Some schools have deadlines of early October and some are January.
Second thing is what do you want it to look like? Are you are June bug and you like to be warm? Do you like fall and winter, and wearing fall clothes? If you want fall vibes, late November is a great bet. For the summer loving people, you can do March or April before graduation; or even September, October (right after school starts).
5 Tips for the best senior photo session
If spring and summer are your vibe then your time is right around the corner. Most photographers get booked up for these sessions so the sooner you contact them the better. So if you want to get in my calendar for this spring send me an email and let’s get planning.
- Contact your senior photographer: The first thing you need to do is to get on their schedule (or my schedule). Spring is super busy both for photographer and for seniors. Lots of activities on the final stretch of senior year.
- Be as specific as you can when you contact your photographer. I love it when my seniors tell me what they invision for their session. They might not know how to get it but they have an idea of what they want to look like. The more specific the better I can help you plan the perfect senior photos.
- Start looking at outfits. And send me pictures of what you find. You don’t need anything new. You can shop your closet. But if you want to shop special for your session I am all in for that too. If you send me pictures it helps me plan what I am going to do for you and how your session will flow.
- If you are going to get a haircut do it a couple of weeks before your session. Haircuts always look a bit better when they are not so fresh. Let it grow in a little.
- Are you doing your own hair and makeup or are you going with a pro? Don’t be afraid to go with a pro. They can apply as little or as much as you want. You want a natural look? They can do it? You are all about the glam? That’s perfect too! You do you and if you love how you look you will love your photos!
