Editing senior photos and other photos is part of the process of being a professional photographer. It has taken me many years to come to where I am in my editing style. One thing is true since the very beginning. I always have liked very natural photos. I am not a fan of filters. My aim is for my photos to look timeless and the editing is part of that.
Photographers take editing very seriously. It is part of their brand. Some have warm overtones. Others might edit in cooler tones. I like my photos to show the colors as they were the day we photographed them. The warmth you see in my photos is from the golden hour light. Not from me adding a overlay or filter.
When editing senior photos I want seniors to see themselves in the photo. If I over process the image then maybe you won’t even recognize yourself. Your skin should look like skin not plastic. And it should have pores! However, if you get a pimple or have some acne, don’t worry. There is a fix for that. If it’s not going to be there in two weeks it doesn’t need to be in your photos. Zap they are gone! And that editing does not cost you anything extra! (Honestly it shouldn’t, it should be included when you hire a professional photographer.)
What about editing your features in the photos?
I truly believe that you are beautiful just as you are. There is no need to change your nose, cheekbones, lips, eyes, etc. Capturing your natural beauty is my job. Getting it right in camera is my main goal. Correct composition, colors, posing, ect. reduces the amount of editing. And the result is that you look like the best you EVER!
