This is the second year that I get to photograph this sweet family. We planned the session early in the season and we were ready. It was not supposed to be a home session. We had everything ready to go. Our schedules were busy and we didn’t have a lot of options on when to do the session. The session was in the morning and when I woke up I checked the weather. It was supposed to rain but not until after our session. When I got to the location all was good. It was overcast but no rain. Shortly after that the skies opened up and the wind started blowing. Needless to say, we couldn’t stay and finish the session. Heck, we didn’t even get the chance of starting it! I suggested that we move the session to their home. They were game! How fun are they?!
So now we are at their home and we can start shooting. It was dark outside but so bright and beautiful inside. Home sessions are so fun and unique to each family. I love to capture kids in their own environment. They get comfortable much faster and I get some of the best smiles. Also it’s always great to capture memories in the place where most of your memories are made. Home is were the heart is.
I just love those smiles! Most people think that their home needs to be super decorated to have a home session. I think the home just needs to be tidy. It doesn’t need to be spotless. Who are we kidding? How can anyone keep a spotless house? (Although this home was AMAZING AND SUPER CLEAN!!! HOW DOES SHE DO IT WITH TWO LITTLES?) If you are interested in an in home session what I always suggest is to try to move some the things out of my camera sight. Simple backgrounds work best. The stairs is a great place to start. I also love snuggly pictures of families on the couch. There are so many opportunities to take amazing photos in a in home session. And I promise you will LOVE having those pictures for years to come!
